Ronald McDonald Care Mobile™

Ronald McDonald Care Mobile

Our newest program, the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile is a partnership with the University of South Florida’s Department of Pediatrics. Under the direction of USF's Medical Director Dr. Lynn Ringenberg, the van's medical team consists of a nurse practitioner, licensed practical nurse and resident physicians from USF Medical School. Volunteer dentists and dental assistants are provided through collaboration with Hillsborough Community College and the Hillsborough County Dental Society.

The Ronald McDonald Care Mobile, housing two patient examination rooms with prenatal exam capabilities, a laboratory, a reception and a medical records area, was designed and built specifically for the delivery of pediatric health and dental care tailored to the Tampa Bay community. It joins 27 other Ronald McDonald Care Mobiles currently providing direct healthcare needs to underserved children in three countries.

USF Department of Pediatrics coordinates their visits to Title One schools with the Hillsborough County School District Health Services. They also visit The Spring, Joshua House, Metropolitan Ministries, and teen centers.

Now in its second year of operations, the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile continues to expand their visits to include as many schools as possible given the limitations of their schedule. There have already been so many success stories and positive outcomes, that the staff cannot help but be enthusiastic in their mission.

Ronald McDonald Care Mobiles are on the Road

Since 2000, Ronald McDonald Care Mobiles have provided cost-effective medical, dental and educational services to under-served children in their own communities.

Bringing Care Where It’s Needed Most

This year, hundreds of thousands of children will go without immunizations and routine physical exams. Pregnant teens will go without the prenatal care they need. And every day, asthma and minor health problems will go undiagnosed until they become acute - when they will be more difficult and more expensive to treat.

RMHC is working to change this. In an effort to provide access to health care for underserved children, Ronald McDonald House Charities has created the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile™ program.

Through relationships with local healthcare providers, the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile program brings cost effective, high-quality medical and dental care directly to underserved children in both rural and urban areas. The Ronald McDonald Care Mobiles provide immunizations and health screenings, oral health services, diagnosis and treatment of chronic disease and health education to children who would otherwise go without health care.

Pediatric Care on Wheels

Unlike most other “mobile clinics,” which are actually converted recreational vehicles, these state-of-the-art Ronald McDonald Care Mobiles are designed and built specifically for the delivery of pediatric health care that’s tailored to each community’s needs.

Each 40-foot long, 8-foot wide Ronald McDonald Care Mobile houses medical and dental examination rooms including prenatal exam capabilities, a laboratory, digital radiography and a reception and medical records area.
